Try spread the amount of counties out evenly among them so none of them gets too strong and hand out minor titles to the leaders. If you keep too much to urself they will fight you for it. If ur having a hard time you can also make it easier by converting to christianity which will make it easier to convert the counties you take.Īlso, maybe most important, always have the max amount of clans you can without any penalty and make sure to give them enough land.
Later in the game once you got a decent army you should keep the sub-holdings as vassals and only pillage the capital, this will give you a lot of tax but only do it if you can withstand rebels. When you take the counties in the beginning, pillage all the buildings, this will give you more gold and auto-give the county ur culture and religion so you wont have to deal with rebels early on. Also try expand fast in the beginning, taking the slavic-tribe areas is easiest, the Suomenusko-areas are also pretty easy to take if they dont have prestige enough for the 2.5k tribal troops, though be carefull for the northern counties who have insanely low supply limit and take one county at the time. My tip for horselord regardless of what you play (i started as magyar) is to raid a lot in the beginning and build population and tax-buildings in ur capital. Personally i always start at Charlemagne-timeline to get most playtime out of the game. Now, I'm not sure whether I misclicked but all of a sudden someone else was Khagan of the Mongol Empire and I was Khagan of some random county and had lost all my armies. Then I was given the option of pillaging each new county for technology points so I thought fair enough, I'll do that. I gave each clan more counties until they were satisfied, then won the war with the 50k event troops that you start with. You start off in a war and with the other tribes wanting land.
